Meetings notes, Sept. 23, 2013:
Attendance: Sara Holt, Val Dominski, Phyllis White, Beth Cory, Rebecca Galli
Agenda:
  • group norms
    • we will start at 3 and end by 4.
    • we have a recorder and time keeper for each meeting
  • expectations, role clarification for Mentors
    • mentors will ensure all grade level team members have the most up-to-date copies of any IPPs, assessments, pacing calendars, etc
    • you are the liaison for your grade level.  Please disseminate information accordingly.
    • you will gather the pre and post-assessment data as needed for flex grouping and intervention groups and meet with Teresa/Clare on an as needed basis.
    • you will plan the before school intervention groups.  We can use the K format as a guideline to help us plan.  Clare will share that with you for you to peruse.  The goal is to target key content that is needed for success and list activities/games that Ed Techs can use for support. (Meeting with Ed techs can be a problem of time constraints - can Clare help in this matter, maybe provide coverage so you can meet with ed techs occasionally.)
    • Provide a pacing calendar for your grade level.
  • EDM vs IXL vs online games subscription at all? (If you have a chance to get on IXL before this meeting, it would be helpful.)
    • We could go around on this for ages.  Please talk with your grade level group to see what they would prefer.  I will check with Dirk if we need to make a whole school decision vs a grade-by-grade decision.  Questions for Dirk are: Can we buy limited seats for just K or 1.  Should Gr 3 do IXL as a bridge to NYMS?  Can we purchase EDM iPad apps instead of "at home" online games?
  • Baseline assessments - review and plans for future
    • Mid-year full assessment is under discussion.  We may feel it is better to target certain benchmarks and assess only those at mid-year.
  • Pacing guides
    • I have shared a document for you to fill out and share with your grade level (and me).
  • Intervention groups
    • K begins week of Sept. 30
    • Gr 1 and 2 begin week of Oct. 7
    • Gr 3 begins week of Oct 15 (after NECAPs)
    • See above regarding time to meet with Ed Techs. 
  • Sara brought up concerns for the Spec Ed staff regarding aligning goals with Common Core not EDM and how does that look for our students and how do we measure and assess growth.
